10 Halloween Photography Ideas with a Pumpkin.

When it comes to Halloween, most everyone is looking for a spooky way to decorate. Some of my neighbors go all out in the month of October while others are too scared to step outside the box. But Halloween isn’t all about freaking people out just to hear a scream – it’s about using our imagination and becoming a character we aren’t in our every-day lives. I always have a blast putting together my kid’s costumes and I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my Halloween photography ideas.. with a pumpkin!

1. Action Shots Wearing Pumpkins

One of the cutest pumpkin and Halloween photography ideas is a photo of  sweet baby bums.  Use a knitted pumpkin beanie and pumpkin tights on baby.  In this image we set the scene by placing baby on a shabby chic white bench and used a variety of pumpkins as props.

2. Black & White Photos with Colorful Pumpkin

Image Another one of my adorable pumpkin and Halloween photography ideas is using the same concept as the picture above, but only this time selecting  the major points of focus to keep in color.

3. Halloween Photoshoot at the Park.

Babies don’t get to have all the fun.  If you have a young child and are looking for Halloween photography ideas with a pumpkin, you can’t go wrong with a simple scene.  This image was taken at a park using only natural light, a fall colored blanket and a few Halloween and fall inspired props.  Oh and don’t forget your sweet girl in her pretty butterfly costume!

4. Your Baby’s First Halloween

You can’t go wrong setting the stage with a “My First Halloween” graphic onsie or tee.  Using all of Halloweens traditional goodies, such as, pumpkins, witches and vampires, spider webs and trick or treat bags.  Keep them cute and smily so you don’t scare your little pumpkin.

5. Pumpkins and Metal Props

That’s all you need for this idea.  For other halloween photo ideas, try filling the tub with small pumpkins, or setting up scarecrows and fall colored leaves. Not only will this add lots of color, but it showcases the elements of the fall and change of seasons.

7. A Tangled Spider Web

Using a spider web for halloween photography ideas is simple.  I stretched out my web across a bench I was using during the shot and slid the baby underneath.  Wah-la baby web face! I love how this softened the focus on the eyes but still showcases the bright blue!

8. Costume Onsies and Pumpkins.

This is another image taken just before sunset.  With baby is her costume I used a simple setup with pumpkins and hay.  You don’t won’t to use too much that might take the attention off the adorable baby monkey.

9. Fall Colored Flowers.

Fall inspired backdrops are perfect for your Halloween photography ideas.  Just place baby dresses in his halloween costume in front of the flowers, hand him a pumpkin, and snap away. A colorful and natural background is always a great option if you’re looking to make your portrait pop.

10. Halloween Photos Using Backdrops

Another simple and adorable way to photograph baby in her halloween costume is using banners.  Pick one that goes well with your baby’s costume and you can hang it up on something or have a person holding each end behind the baby. A backdrop isn’t always necessary when you have volunteers!
